For a $230 "waterproof" boot, I have been let down. Mine leaked right out of the box, wet leather seepage was slow, but as soon as I stepped in a puddle that was at all deeper than the outsole, my foot was soaked. I need an insulated boot to work in this winter and can't fool around with returning them so I'm stuck, though I've doctored them up with Freesole urethane around the base and Nikwax which seems to work. "Gore-Tex" they ain't!
The tanning compounds used also make this a softer leather than most boots. They break in more quickly but don't have great abrasion/cut resistance. Made in China also, BTW.
On the plus side, they do keep my feet warm when they aren't leaking, they were available with "Dri-ice" outsoles (which I'm frankly not entirely sold on after using them for a while) and they were cheaper than some options, although more expensive than many others... I will probably steer clear of Danner for my future boots.

This boot is an update of the 16001 which I have worn for about the past 6 years on a daily basis...The reason for buying a new pair is that mine are just plain worn out. I noted the update in the 16007 that the lower part is one piece rather than stitched middle way and the laces are much bigger. It appears the arch is lower in the new boot but the break in took only 2 days...Hats off to the Danner crowd for maintaining quality in their boots @ a 30 dollar increase but do the math...can't find this quality footwear that will last at about 34 bucks a year...and my feet stay dry while hunting or working...
